Paper Pumpkin with Boo - September 2016
Blog Candy to Celebrate 18 years!

Bermuda Star of Light

When I ask my customers what color they think a Christmas card should be many of them tell me "red and green".

But, does it have to be red and green?

Absolutely not!

For instance, who about a beautiful snowflake card with a blue color scheme? Or, a beautiful reindeer card in gold foil and black?  Or, how about a Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler combination?

When I made this card initially I didn't like it. I didn't like the fact that it didn't look "Christmas-y".  I almost threw it away.

That was when Boo stepped into the room.  She took one look at it and said "well, it's not traditional but I like it!".  There you have it - saved from the trash can!

The Star of Light Bundle includes fabulous images.  I've been playing around with different ideas on how to use them.  You know me, they've got to be 'out of the box' ideas because I like utilizing a stamp set beyond the "obvious".  The greetings in this set are fantastic!  Christmas is about the celebration of Jesus' birth and this set definitely represents that!

I used Silver foil to play up the rich color of the Cherry Cobbler.  I used the 3/4" Circle Punch to create decorative corners which I laid over the vellum cardstock die cut image.  The silver metallic thread works nicely to compliment the shimmer.

And, like I've always said, "do not buy the just the stamp set or just the framelits. Buy the bundle!" I've scolded myself one too many times over the years when I purchased just one without the other.

Did you know that your $35 online product order invites you join me in my private "Live with Lisa" event?  The next one is on Sunday, October 16th at 8pm EST.  The live demonstrations, project tutorials and prize patrol are available on the closed group page even after the event has aired.  You won't want to miss it! I'll be demonstrating projects using the Merry Mice stamp set and the Greeting from Santa/Detailed Santa Thinlits Bundle!  You can place your online order to join us HERE.

Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite Christmas color combination is!

I'm so glad this card didn't hit the trash can, Lisa. It is beautiful. I especially love the vellum diecut layer with the red underneath and the Bermuda Bay star on top. Have a great day.

Hi HJ! Ohhhh, wow, you like it too?! Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to comment. Boo will be thrilled to know she's not the only one who liked it!

Hi Lisa. You're making me a believer in non traditional Christmas colors. Your card is beautiful and I would definitely try this combination. My favorite colors for Christmas cards are Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

Hi Loretta! Your color combination is one of my very favorites, too. I'm a big fan of Old Olive as well. I've made so many Christmas cards already, designing for Studio Stamps in the Mail, blog posts, videos, events, etc. that I was getting a little - well - 'bored' with red and green. I'm glad you like this card. Thanks for stopping by to comment. HUGS
